Course Description
Instinctive Point Shooting (Handgun) is a close-quarters technique designed for spontaneous, deadly force encounters where utilizing sighted fire techniques may not be possible due to time, distance, lighting, and/or lack of cover.
Eligibility Requirements: must meet at least 1
- Current Ohio Law Enforcement Officer
- Retired Law Enforcement Officer w/retired credentials
- Active or Veteran Military (10% off)
- Current Ohio CCW holder
- Successful FBI background check completed by Knox County Sheriff's Office (schedule fingerprinting at least 30 days prior to class so that results are received prior to class)
- To obtain a background check through the Knox County Sheriff's Office log onto co.knox.oh.us.sheriff/ . Click on the blue box "Let's Get Started." Follow prompts. Delivery options select "Please mail results to" and include the following information: Mark Prince, Knox Technical Center, 308 Martinsburg Rd, Mount Vernon OH 43050. Phone 740-393-2933. When asked for a code, enter 4749.06. Make sure to schedule an appointment to be fingerprinted. Payment is required.
Course Schedule
- Course length: 16 hours
- Class meets: Saturday, September 26, 2026 & Sunday, September 27, 2026
- Time: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm both days

Requirements
- Your own handgun
- 500 rounds of ammunition
- OWB holster
- Suitable eye and ear protection (electronic muffs preferred)
- Bring your own lunch
Cost
- $300 - due prior to the first day of class
- Payment can be made when registering online -- OR --
