Nail Technician

Being a nail technician is a hands-on career focused on the art and science of nail care. It involves providing manicures, pedicures, and artificial nail enhancements like acrylics and gels. Beyond the artistic aspects of shaping and decorating nails, technicians must also understand nail health and infection control practices to prevent infections and ensure client safety. They need to be skilled in client communication, offering personalized services, and staying current with the latest nail trends and products.

After completing the 200-hour training, students must pass the Ohio State Cosmetology and Barber Board exams to obtain their license.

* Written Exam:  Tests theoretical knowledge (Infection Control & Safety, Nail Anatomy & Physiology, Implements, Product Knowledge & Chemistry, Nail Care & Services, and Ohio State Laws & Rules)

*  Practical Exam:  Demonstrates technical skills on a glove hand (Client Protection/Infection Control, Manicure, Nail Tip, and Acrylic application)

The KTC Nail Technician program is approved by the Ohio State Cosmetology and Barber Board and the Ohio Department of Higher Education.
