Phlebotomy

A phlebotomy career centers on the essential medical practice of drawing blood from patients for various diagnostic tests, transfusions, research, or donations. Phlebotomists are vital members of the healthcare team, requiring a combination of technical skill and interpersonal abilities. They must accurately identify patients, select appropriate collection methods, and maintain sterile conditions to ensure patient safety and accurate test results. Beyond the technical aspects, phlebotomists play a crucial role in patient comfort, often easing anxieties and providing clear explanations of procedures. This profession offers opportunities for employment in diverse healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, and laboratories, doctor's offices, and can serve as a stepping stone to further advancement in the medical field.

After completing this program you will be eligible for certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (NCPT) through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)

The KTC Phlebotomy program matches requirements as established by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), and complies with competencies/essentials published by the Clinical & Laboratory Standards Institution (CLSI).  The program is approved by the Ohio Department of Higher Education.
