Firefighter II Transition

The transition from Firefighter I to Firefighter II marks a significant step in a firefighter's professional development, expanding their skills and responsibilities. Firefighter II training builds upon the foundational knowledge of Firefighter I, delving into more advanced topics such as fire attack strategies, ventilation techniques, and rescue tools. This level of training emphasizes leadership, teamwork, and decision-making skills, preparing firefighters to take on more complex roles within the fireground. Successful completion of the program includes achieving a minimum grade of 80% on the final exam and overall course grade, which qualifies students to take the State of Ohio Certification test to become certified as a firefighter.

The KTC Public Safety program is approved by the Ohio Department of Higher Education.  Our programs are accredited by the Ohio Department of Public Safety #OH116.  Applicants for the Public Safety programs must meet moral, ethical, and substance use policies of the Ohio Department of Safety (OAC 4765).
