EMT Basic
​
The EMT Basic program provides comprehensive classroom and hands-on training, covering all aspects of an Emergency Medical Technician's duties.  This course prepares students for certification. Successful completion of the program includes achieving a minimum grade of 80% on the final exam and overall course grade, which qualifies students to take the National Registry of Emergency Technicians written and practical examinations. Passing these exams is required for state certification as an EMT.

The KTC Public Safety program is approved by the Ohio Department of Higher Education.  Our programs are accredited by the Ohio Department of Public Safety #OH116.  Applicants for the Public Safety programs must meet moral, ethical, and substance use policies of the Ohio Department of Safety (OAC 4765).

  • Program Length: 150 hrs / 3.5 months
  • Class Meets: Mon & Wed / 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm and a few Saturdays 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
  • Location: Extension Campus

Enrollment Requirements

  • Be at least 17 years old and in your final year of high school
  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED
  • Complete the process as outlined on the Enrollment page

Funding Options

  • Students may be eligible for grants or scholarships 
  • Federal financial aid is  not available for programs under 600 hours
