Emergency Medical Responder

​​An Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certification is an entry-level medical training that equips individuals with the basic skills to provide immediate care to patients in emergency situations, like performing CPR, controlling bleeding, and stabilizing a patient until more advanced medical professionals arrive, like EMTs or paramedics.  Must pass the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians test for state certification.  

This class is good for police officers, security personnel, teachers, firefighters or anyone wanting to start into public safety.  

The KTC Public Safety program is approved by the Ohio Department of Higher Education.  Our programs are accredited by the Ohio Department of Public Safety #OH116.  Applicants for the Public Safety programs must meet moral, ethical, and substance use policies of the Ohio Department of Safety (OAC 4765).

• Program Length:  48 hrs / 1 month
• Class Meets: Mon & Wed / 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm and a couple Saturdays 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
• Location: Extension Campus

Enrollment Requirements

• Be at least 17 years old and in your final year of high school
• Must posses a high school diploma or GED
• Complete the process as outlined on the enrollment page

Funding Options

• Students may be eligible for grants or scholarships 
• Federal financial aid is  not available for programs under 600 hours
