In the Emergency Medical Services field, you provide vital life-saving skills to your community. You can progress from an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) to an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). Key skills for the EMS field include clinical skills like CPR, wound care, splinting, patient assessment, administering medications (depending on certification level), strong communication skills, critical thinking, quick decision-making, situational awareness, physical fitness, empathy, teamwork, stress management, and the ability to remain calm under pressure; all while navigating challenging and often rapidly changing emergency situations.
