Health Information Technician

If you are good at record-keeping and intrigued by human physiology, this may be the career for you! As a Health Information Technician, you will be the key to keeping accurate patient information in a doctor's office or hospital. Our hands-on skills lab plus 140 hours practicum experience (unpaid) in a medical facility will prepare you to excel in this field.

After completing this program...

You will be eligible for certification as a Nationally Certified Insurance & Coding Specialist (NCICS) through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)

Enrollment Requirements

  • Complete the process as outlined on the enrollment page
  • Medical Release
  • ​Immunizations
  • State Background Check: BCI – NO ORC – “Other—working with children and elderly” 
  • If you have lived in Ohio for less than 5 years, a Federal Background Check is also required: FBI – NCPA/VCA – “Volunteer Children’s Act”
